Watch out for Silvio & colleague Marijan Bekic who will be carving stone on the foreshore near the jetty at the inaugural SALT Festival in Port Lincoln. They will have some of their work on display at the gallery at the Civic Centre. Silvio will also be singing in the combined choir which is presenting Rosemary Nairn’s “The Two Captains” in the Civic Centre concert hall on Sunday 23rd at 2.00pm…a tribute to Matthew Flinders and Nicholas Baudin.
While at Crystal Lake, Silvio also carved this amazing Bilby out of a block of Melba’s milk chocolate. Melba’s was one of the sponsors for Sculptors @ Crystal Lake. The Bilby was auctioned for charity and fetched $2,500. Happy Easter everyone!

The second Sculptors @ Crystal Lake Symposium at Macclesfield (off Devereux Street) starts next weekend. Silvio, Artistic Director, will be working alongside local sculptors Barry Lincoln of Macclesfield, Tim Spooner of Strathalbyn, John Nelson and Peter Syndicas of Adelaide, Marijan Beki? of Wudinna, Jina Lee from Perth (a Sculpture by the Sea at Cottlesloe award winner) and Ben Tolhurst of Tasmania. There is also an art exhibition in the “big shed” at Crystal Lake with works for sale. Gold coin entry to the site.
Family Day will be on Saturday with children’s activities which include a treasure hunt and a chocolate & cheese sculpting demonstration. Sponsors include Mt Barker Council, Longview Estate Wines, Udder Delights, Prancing Pony Brewery, Adelaide Hills Getaway, Battunga Country Tourism.

Silvio is displaying his Sealion Birdbath, situated along the foreshore at the Brighton Classic, between the 25th January and the 5th February.


Silvio has installed a Wombat at the start of the Jessie Traill Reserve walking path in Harkaway in Victoria. Further along is a Platypus with Young and in the Cardinia Creek catchment area he has installed a male Platypus.

Last evening the Governor of SA, Hieu Van Le, presented an award given by the Adelaide Chapter of UNESCO to AHISS, represented by Silvio and Natalija Apponyi, Nigel Steele Scott, Barry Windle, Brooke Yates (absent) and acknowledging the late Chris Steele Scott. It reads “For outstanding achievement in creating international and artistic events involving mentoring and a lasting legacy of 26 magnificent sculptures throughout the Adelaide Hills.”
