  • April 2012 – Symposium Wrap-Up – Isla-Sanz

    They came in their thousands to watch the sculptors at work and went away amazed and excited.  The Cedars, Sir Hans Heysen’s home & studio, quadrupled its takings for the month.  A win-win situation for the Symposium and the estate.  The Committee cannot thank the councils, sponsors, volunteers and the public enough!

    Silvio’s piece will be completed in May.  He had his work cut out as artistic director and dogman for the crane, which in fact was an excavator handled with brilliance & finesse by Scott Hunter of Hunter Brothers at Carey Gully.

  • April 2012 – Adelaide Hills International Sculpture Symposium

    Work is well underway up on The Ridge at The Cedars at the 2012 Adelaide Hills International Sculpture Symposium.  Besides Silvio we welcome Queenslanders Craig Medson and Luke Zwolsman, Spaniard Miguel Isla, Yoshin Ogata from Japan, Jaya Schuerch from Switzerland via the USA, South Korean Hwang Seung-Woo and Kemal Tufan from Turkey.  On until the 29th April…visiting hours 10am to 4pm (closed Mondays).  Gold coin donation.  While you’re up there visit the Heysen Biennal Sculpture Exhibition “Homage to Nature” and the exhibition of our symposium artists’ small sculptures in the Nora Heysen gallery; enter through The Cedars shop.

    Silvio also has installed  two farm gates on the Fleurieu for the Alexandrina Farm Gate festival.  One gate depicts a vineyard scene and the other incorporates the ghost of a sheep departed.   http://www.alexandrina.sa.gov.au/page.aspx?u=1954 for maps and information.  Also on till the 29th April.

     

  • March 2012 – Heysen Biennial Sculpture Exhibition

    Silvio’s granite sculpture “Peleton” is one of over 50 created by local artists and which are installed in the extensive grounds of The Cedars at Hahndorf, Hans Heysen’s former home and studio, as part of the Heysen Biennial.  Silvio’s piece is on top of the hill above the studio.  This Fringe exhibition will run for 2 months and overlap the Adelaide Hills International Sculpture Symposium which begins on the 10th April and runs until the 29th (closed Mondays).
