Silvio will be interviewed by Peter Goers at the Stirling Spring Ball on Friday night 21st October. This gala night will raise funds for the Stirling Business Association’s commission of a sculpture to be created at the 2012 Adelaide Hills International Sculpture Symposium.

On the 25th October Silvio will be addressing the gallery guides at the South Australian Art Gallery. The gallery bookshop has a selection of his small works for sale.

Silvio’s exhibition at Art Images Gallery, 32, The Parade, Norwood, opens on Friday 28th October at 6.00pm and runs until the 20th November. Rod Bax will also be showing with his wildlife paintings. http://artimagesgallery.com.au/artist_gallery

On the 4th November the Fleurieu Biennale Water Prize & Sculpture Exhibition will open at 6.00pm at Signal Point Gallery, Goolwa Wharf, Goolwa.

August 2011 – SALA

Silvio will hold his Open Studio at Gleneden, corner of Swamp Road and Fenwick Road, Balhannah on Saturday and Sunday 6th & 7th August from 10am -5pm to celebrate SA Living Artists’ Festival. Also apprearing will be John Nelson, Peter Syndicas & Sally Wickes.

During August Silvio will also be showing at the Adelaide Town Hall and at Rockford Winery, Krondorf Road Tanunda where he will be exhibiting an exciting new series of woodblock and lino-cut prints.

July 2011 – Waterhouse Finalist

Coral Reef Nautilus, Bronze, Copper and Cowell Marble

Silvio was lucky enoughto be included amongst the finalists again at this year’s Waterhouse Natural History Art Prize at the SA Museum. His Nautilus attracted much attention at the gala launch and he was thrilled that his protegée Sally Wickes won third prize in the Sculpture & Objects category.

June 2011 – Launch of 2012 Adelaide Hills International Sculpture Symposium

Silvio will be the artistic director of this exciting community-initiated event which will take place next year on the 10th-29th April at The Cedars, Hahndorf, home of Sir Hans Heysen. There will be 5 sculptors from overseas and 2 from Queensland working alongside Silvio and the resulting 8 stone pieces will be installed in towns in the Adelaide Hills and Mt Barker districts. If the symposium takes place biennally, 3 times, the 24 sculptures will not only enrich the experience of living in the Hills, but form the basis of a sculpture trail which will encourage tourism.

The AHISS Inc Committee is excited to announce that, in addition to support from both councils, the Stirling Business Association and Mt Barker Business Association will each be commissioning one of the pieces, so it is well underway to reaching its financial target. Barossa Quarries have also offered to supply the artists with stone. Businesses, community groups, residents and supporters of the arts both in the Hills and beyond are encouraged to show their support by joining the association. April 2011 – Wirranendi

The Wirrenandi Interpretive Trail in the West Parklands in Adelaide is complete. There are 4 parts to the trail; Earth, Fire, Wind and Water. Besides Silvio’s contribution of several bronzes and carved rocks, the other sculptors involved were Sally Wickes, Shereen Rankine and John Nelson. The designers for the project were Martin Corbin who also oversaw much of the process and did a huge amount of research, David Zhu and Debbie Saegenschnitter; the poet was Kimberley Mann. Grateful thanks to Boral Resources (SA) Limited and Quarry Manager Frank Pedretti who donated most of the rocks for the project.

Silvio appeared at the 5th National Limestone Carving Symposium, 21-26 February. The activities were based next to the Old Gaol.

July 2010 – Waterhouse Success

Sushi or Not Sushi

Silvio won third prize in Category C, Sculpture & Objects in the Waterhouse Natural History Art Prize at the SA Museum with his sculpture of Whales, “Sushi or Not Sushi”. He also received a “Highly Commended” for his lino-print “Squid”. He will be working at the Museum on Tuesday 3rd and 17th August from 10am. He will also have his studio open for SALA…Sunday 1st, 8th and 15th from 12-4, with several other artists. Devonshire tea served from 1.00pm.

November 2009 – Bob the Railway Dog

Silvio created this life-sized bronze sculpture to commemorate the dog which rode the trains in SA’s mid-north 100 years ago. It’s in the main street in Peterborough.
